🍳Ingredients

  • Green beans: Opting for fresh green beans is the ideal choice, but if unavailable, frozen green beans can be used as an alternative.
  • Oil: Chinese stir-fry dishes typically require a generous amount of oil. However, if health is a concern, using olive oil is a suitable alternative.
  • Ground beef: For this recipe, it’s recommended to use ground beef with a higher fat percentage, around 10 to 15 percent fat, as it is more flavourful and won’t dry out during cooking. Alternatively, pork with a lean-to-fat ratio of 7 to 3 can be used as a substitute.
  • Oyster sauce: Oyster sauce has become increasingly popular in modern Chinese cuisine, due to the seafood-like flavor it imparts to dishes. However, if you don’t have any on hand, you can substitute it with the same amount of soy sauce to achieve the desired level of saltiness.
  • Fried garlic: I prefer using pre-made fried garlic for its convenience, but you can also fry fresh garlic before preparing the recipe.

🔪How to prepare green beans

How to cut the green beans quickly?

While it can be relaxing to pick through green beans while watching TV, we often find ourselves short on time. One trick is to grab a handful of beans and create a neat pile. Then, align the ends of the beans against the edge of your knife and simply cut them off.

How to deep-fry the green beans?

Firstly, dry them thoroughly with a towel to prevent the oil from splattering. Next, heat the oil to medium and cook the beans until they’re tender and the skin is slightly wrinkled and golden. When cooking in a home kitchen, it’s sufficient for the oil to cover only half of the beans. Make sure to turn the beans occasionally to ensure even cooking throughout.

🥘 Instructions

Step 1: Deep frying the green beans:

Add oil and green beans in a saucepan over medium heat. Deep-fry the green beans until the skin is slightly wrinkled and golden in color. Once done, turn off the heat and set the beans aside. Remove the excess oil, leaving only two tablespoons in the pan for the next step. In a small bowl, mix together the oyster sauce, soy sauce, and rice wine.

Step 2: Frying ground beef:

Set the heat to medium and add the ground beef. Stir-fry until the beef is slightly golden in color. Next, add the mixing sauce and continue cooking for 10-20 seconds until the sauce has evaporated and the beef is sizzling.

Step 3: Mixing in green beans and stir fry:

Add the cooked green beans and fried garlic to the pan. Stir-fry until everything is nicely mixed and sizzling, approximately 1-2 minutes.

Used my airfryer and canned green beans and it was amazing! Thanks for your recipe I fried the ground beef in the skillet, drained it and fried the garlic. Removed the garlic and added the beef back to skillet with the sauce. Airfryer at 450 degrees for approximately 15 minutes stirring 2-3 times and sprayed cooking oil on them for a reduced fat version!
