Every bite of this Chinese steamed chicken is tender, juicy, and full of flavors. When a dish tastes this delicious, it is a bonus that it is healthy too.
❤️ About This Recipe
This simple steamed chicken recipe is filled with tasty superfood ingredients: garlic, Shiitake mushroom, and Goji berries. It’s the best way to get all the good stuff in one dish.
The Goji berries are sweet and a little sour, the Shiitake mushrooms have an earthy and meaty flavor, and the garlic oil adds a fragrant touch. These layers of flavors create a delicious and exciting dish that’ll make your taste buds happy.
Steaming not only keeps the chicken juicy and flavorful, but it’s also a healthy cooking method that preserves the natural taste of the ingredients.
This dish is incredibly delicious with rice, and honestly, I can’t stop eating it because it’s so tasty.
🍳 Ingredients
- Chicken: Boneless chicken thighs are more flavorful and are less likely to dry out while cooking.
- Shiitake mushroom: Using pre-sliced shiitake mushrooms saved me a lot of time, but you can use whole ones too. Just soak them in water and then slice them.
- Goji Berries: Goji berries aren’t just healthy; they also bring a vibrant color to the dish. But if you can’t find them, it’s fine to leave them out.
- Garlic: Garlic oil can be used for many things. I usually make extra and keep it in the fridge. It’s an easy way to add flavor to your food without having to peel garlic every time.

Can’t wait to try this recipe, sound delicious!
I’m hoping to make a large batch of this and freeze it to steam at work for lunch. Should I marinate and freeze with the meat raw or should I steam it and then freeze and then steam again when I’m ready to eat it?
I think freshly steamed would be better
